Months-Long Multi-Agency Investigation Leads to Arrest in Major Criminal Case in Spokane

SPOKANE, WA — On July 30, 2025, the Spokane Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), in coordination with multiple federal and regional law enforcement partners, arrested 38-year-old Taurean D. Jones following an extensive investigation into serious criminal activity, including unlawful conduct involving minors.

The case began in January when SIU detectives received a report from the State of Idaho concerning allegations of inappropriate and criminal behavior. The report involved a vulnerable youth, and early findings suggested coordinated activity crossing state lines. As the investigation progressed, detectives gathered evidence indicating that illegal substances and threats were allegedly used to exploit the victim over a prolonged period. A second potential victim was identified as the inquiry widened.

Local and federal agencies, including the FBI, worked collaboratively to uncover the full scope of the situation. As part of the operation, search warrants were executed on a vehicle and a downtown Spokane business connected to Jones.
