Nonprofit to host back-to-school event with shoes giveaway in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – A local nonprofit is gearing up for its annual back-to-school event at Underhill Park this weekend. The event, organized by The Way to Justice, will provide more than 5,000 brand-new pairs of shoes to children in grades K-12.

The event aims to ensure every child in Spokane feels valued and confident on their first day of school. Supplies will be divided by grade to meet the specific needs of each student. In addition to shoes, attendees can expect backpacks and other school supplies.

Spokane’s mayor and city council president are scheduled to speak on Saturday. The event will also feature a dance competition with mascots from the Indians, a variety of field games, a bouncy house, a splash pad, and a playground.
