Spokane, Wash. – A dangerous stretch of late-summer heat is gripping eastern Washington and north Idaho, with highs in the upper 90s expected to persist through Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory across Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Pullman, Moscow, and surrounding counties, urging residents to limit time outdoors.
According to the NWS Spokane office, temperatures below 3,500 feet will peak between 90 and 99 degrees, while mountain valleys may still climb into the upper 80s. The advisory replaces an earlier excessive heat warning in Okanogan County, though Winthrop, Twisp, and Conconully remain under the same heat risk until midweek.
Cities across the Palouse and Inland Northwest, including Cheney, Post Falls, Colville, and Deer Park, will remain vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
