SPOKANE, Wash. – Hundreds of churchgoers in Spokane gathered for the annual National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11. They focused on cleaning and maintaining local cemeteries and playgrounds.
The National Day of Service encourages Americans to transform the events of 9/11 into an opportunity to give back to their communities. Volunteers engaged in various activities, including cleaning headstones, picking up debris, mowing and repainting a faded cemetery sign.
