Spokane FD hosts annual Kids Jr Firefighter Academy Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. — More than a thousand people turned out Saturday for the seventh annual Kids Junior Fire Academy in downtown Spokane.

The event is a chance for kids — and adults — to experience what it is like to be a firefighter while learning important safety information.

There were lots of ways for people to get involved. Some of the fun included tours and demonstrations from a fire truck and fire engine, talking about wildfire safety, learning CPR techniques, crafts, operating fire hoses, meet-and-greets with Sparky the Fire Safety Dog, learning about child passenger safety and poison safety, and more…
