Boxers fall 3-0 to defending Northwest Conference champs

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Pacific volleyball team went back-and-fourth with Whitworth for two sets. But the Boxers ultimately couldn’t keep pace with the reigning Northwest Conference champs, falling in straight sets Friday night on the road.

Pacific led twice early in the first set. After the Boxers got within 15-16, the Pirates responded with a 9-1 run to win the opening set 25-16. After Pacific went on a 7-2 run to get within 20-22 in the second set, Whitworth outscored the Boxers 3-1 for a 25-21 victory.

The Pirates jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the final set. Pacific didn’t quit fighting, cutting the deficit to 10-8, before Whitworth finished off the Boxers 25-14.
