Airway Heights, WA – The City of Airway Heights and Spokane Transit Authority (STA) will celebrate the official opening of 6th Avenue with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 26 at 1:30 PM. The event will be held at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Lundstrom Street and will mark the delivery of a major infrastructure improvement, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for residents.
The completed project extends from Craig Road on the west to Russell Street on the east, with a full reconstruction from Ketchum Drive to Russell Street. The new boulevard includes roundabouts at Lundstrom and Lawson, a north-side infill sidewalk, a south-side shared-use path, ADA-compliant ramps, drainage swales, landscaped medians, and bus stops along the corridor. A key component of this project involved constructing a new stretch of roadway between Ketchum and Craig, enabling STA to provide service to this previously unserved area of Airway Heights.
STA was a major funder of this project, bringing six new bus stops to the corridor and increasing service on Route 65 to every 30 minutes on weekdays.
