Suspected impaired driver crashes into parked car, starting fire in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A suspected impaired driver crashed into a parked car and started a fire late Saturday night in Spokane Valley, leading to his arrest on DUI charges.

Spokane Valley deputies responded at 11:55 p.m. on Sept. 28 to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into an unoccupied parked car and caught fire, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies identified the driver as Miguel A. Rivera Martinez, 51, who owned the Subaru that crashed. When speaking with Rivera Martinez, deputies observed bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of intoxicants, the sheriff’s office said…
