Spokane Restaurant Offers Free Meals as SNAP Benefits End

SPOKANE — As the end of federal food assistance looms, one Spokane restaurant is stepping up to help neighbors facing hunger. Skewers Armenian Restaurant announced this week that it will begin offering free, prepacked chicken and rice meals to anyone in need — no questions asked.

Starting Saturday, the restaurant will have a limited number of microwaveable community meals available each day for pickup. “You’re welcome to pick up meals for your own family, or to take a few and drop them off to someone you know who could use a little help,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post.
