Two new and upcoming additions to Spokane’s downtown core focus on innovation in the health and bioscience fields

While it’s known for its abundance of restaurants and shopping options, downtown Spokane has recently attracted two businesses focused on innovative approaches to science and medicine.

More than a month ago, the Riverside Biotech Hub opened on North Riverside Avenue to give biotech startups the foundation they need to launch their research. Plus, a few weeks ago, Inland Imaging announced that it would start construction on a comprehensive Breast Health Center on South Stevens Street, the first of its kind in Eastern Washington.

Chandi Bandaranayaka, along with co-founders James Brozik and ChulHee Kang launched Photon Biosciences LLC in 2017 to research and develop complicated luminescent tests and probes for better visualization and disease detection during cellular imaging. Although it was founded in Pullman, a $150,000 grant from the Health Sciences and Services Authority of Spokane County, or HSSA, allowed the startup to move an hour north to Spokane in 2019…
