Dangerous Felon Pursued 40 Miles From Stevens to Spokane County

Stevens and Spokane County Deputies were able to capture a dangerous felon who has a history of ramming Police cars. (this image shows a Deputy yanking a spike strip across the road to disable the suspect’s tires.)

The man rammed a Steven County cruiser during a DUI Stop

The suspect had rammed two SCSO patrol units November 9th during a DUI stop, and was able to escape. Then on Tuesday, November 11th, he again was being pursued by the Deputies who had warrants for him, as well as another suspected DUI.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jeffrey E. Baumann, headed south toward Spokane County on Highway 395. At one point, he swerved into the northbound lanes, causing other drivers to have to pull to the shoulder. Stevens and Spokane Deputies pursued him toward North Division north of Spokane, where Baumann turned off on some side roads.

Finally, Spokane Deputies were able to deploy spike strips on West Monroe Road, and his speed dropped from 70 to 30 MPH before crashing into a ditch. Deputies boxed him in and took him down without incident…
