SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Many residents are eagerly anticipating the opening of a Trader Joe’s in Spokane Valley. While it may appear to be just another business, this development is a significant achievement for the city, ten years in the making.
Mike Basinger, the Community and Economic Development Director, shared insights on the city’s efforts. Spokane Valley has long been trying to attract a natural grocer, and the arrival of Trader Joe’s presents an opportunity to draw more shoppers from outside the area.
“I think that Trader Joe’s in your community actually makes your community more attractive. It also will promote growth around the Trader Joe’s. So we can anticipate seeing other businesses wanting to locate in that area just based on foot traffic,” Basinger said…
