Spokane County man billed nearly $1,000 for unused, unopened cell phone he says he cancelled

SPOKANE, Wash. — It is prime time for many to purchase some of those big-ticket items, from TVs to computers. With that kind of investment, it is crucial to know return policies should something go awry.

It’s a battle one local couple knows all too well. They say they have been trying to return an unused and unwanted new cell phone for months. They say they’ve been charged nearly $1,000 for a device they have never even opened

“I said this is cancelled…They are supposed to take it back, and they won’t take it back,” George Durgin said. “I have never even opened it, kept it in the box. Went straight to the store (to try to return it). It’s still sealed.”…
