Over the past year, Justin Marshall, a Fixed Route Supervisor for Spokane Transit Authority (STA), responded to three separate emergencies. Marshall has experience as a volunteer firefighter, which has helped him act quickly in stressful situations.
The first incident happened last winter outside the South Boone Garage. Marshall found an unconscious man on the ground. He performed chest compressions for about five minutes until emergency responders arrived. Supervisors Rob Steen and Mike Jones also assisted. The man survived.
In the summer, Marshall met a woman at the Plaza who had missed her bus to a medical appointment at Sacred Heart Hospital. He drove her in his STA road truck so she could reach the hospital on time. This action was outside his usual job duties…
