Spokane’s Best Chicken Sandwiches

There are many things that make a good chicken sandwich. The chicken should be cooked to perfection, definitely not too dry on the inside. If fried, it needs that signature crunch. Is the bread freshly baked or toasted? Extra points, if so. What are the sauces? Maybe something spicy or sweeter toppings like coleslaw to balance the flavors out. The Spokane-Coeur d’Alene restaurants listed below received the most votes for their takes on this classic American sandwich in our poll of readers for the Inlander’s annual Best of the Inland Northwest issue.

This neighborhood pub near Gonzaga University offers two styles of chicken sandwiches. The Chop Chop chicken sandwich includes seared and chopped chicken breast, topped with grilled onion, green onion, melted Swiss cheese, diced bacon and mayo all stuffed into a toasted hoagie roll. Logan Tavern’s most popular chicken sandwich, however, is the buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken is house battered and fried, topped with lettuce, pickles and fry sauce on a brioche bun. Spice things up by adding Cajun honey butter, Nashville hot sauce or buffalo sauce.
