SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Now in its 33rd year, the Santa Express shop is a beloved tradition that’s all about bucking the holiday norm. Inside the pop-up shop at the Spokane Valley Mall, kids get to check off their own nice lists and pick the presents for Mom, Dad, and other family.
“This is just a Christmas store, so anybody is welcome to come in and shop and support our cause,” said Santa Express director Hayley Lydig. “What makes Santa Express special is that behind the red curtain is a special store where kids get to shop to pick out surprise gifts for loved ones to open on Christmas morning.”
The pop-up store on the second level of the mall also boasts volunteer “elves” to guide children ages four through 12 through the shopping experience. They also offer gift-wrapping. The selection of gifts ranges from $1-$12…
