SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The City of Spokane, Spokane County, and Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) have reached a deal to transition and fund emergency dispatch services over the next three years.
The agreement comes six months after SREC notified the city it would end dispatch services for the city’s fire department starting January 1. June’s formal notice started a six-month countdown for Spokane to set up its own independent dispatch service.
The city will still eventually become an independent public safety answering point (PSAP), but the transition has now been extended to happen over the next three years…
