On Halloween, about a week before her birthday, Alecia Larsen was crossing Maple Street in Spokane to catch the bus home to Cheney after trick-or-treating when she was hit by a car whose driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Alecia’s fibula broke through the skin in her shin, and doctors had to reconnect the tendons in her left leg, which is now held together by metal screws and pins.
“It was her sweet 16 and she had to deal with it with a broken leg,” says her father Tony Larsen, who raced to the hospital on Halloween after getting a call from his adult son, who was with Alecia when the crash happened…
