When Jennifer Larson graduated high school in 1998, she knew she wanted to be a nurse. With the intention of helping families during some of their most traumatic moments, after earning her nursing degree from Eastern Washington University she moved to Seattle to work at Harborview Medical Center, where she was a nurse in the intensive care units for burns and pediatric trauma.
The job was rewarding, but physically and emotionally it took a large toll on Larson. So after seven years in that position, she moved to Spokane and returned to school in 2009.
“I was witness to so much tragedy and suffering, but in all that, I realized the strength and resilience that comes from all the pain. Those were some of the most significant years in my life,” Larson said in court three years ago. “Little did I know, I would need those lessons I had learned in my own journey of pain, suffering and survival.”…
