Crash on State Route 12 near Walla Walla leaves three dead

UPDATE: The Washington State Patrol is still investigating a deadly crash on Highway 12 that claimed the lives of three people, including a six-month-old child. Washington State Trooper Daniel Mosqueda says “Based on the severity of the collision and everything involved, they will be handing over the case to our detectives within the state patrol.” Brandon McGary, a 22-year-old from Benton City, was identified as the driver of the vehicle at fault. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries. No arrests have been made and charges are pending. Investigators are still working to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Highway 12 was closed for several hours while collision technicians processed the scene. It reopened just before one in the morning. Once detectives complete their investigation, the case will be forwarded to the Walla Walla County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The Washington State Patrol reminds drivers to stay focused, sober and alert, especially during busy holiday travel.
