Rollover crash involving child passenger leads to DUI arrest and felony charges in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA. — A Spokane Valley man was arrested early New Year’s Day following a rollover crash that left a juvenile passenger seriously injured and led to a confrontation with witnesses, according to the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Deputies responded around 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, to a reported collision near the intersection of North Houk Road and East Mansfield Avenue. While en route, deputies were advised that the driver involved in the crash was armed with a knife and fighting with witnesses at the scene.

According to law enforcement, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Adam L. Powe. Investigators believe Powe was driving while impaired when the crash occurred, with his young son as a passenger.
