SPOKANE, Wash. — It’s been five weeks since a fire tore through the Wilson family’s home near Dwight Merkel Sports Complex. Jasmine Wilson and her family are now living out of suitcases in a hotel, trying to rebuild after losing everything including her son.
Investigators say Wilson’s 11-year-old son, Jhasoni, accidentally started the fire in his basement bedroom. Firefighters were able to rescue Jasmine’s mother, but Jhasoni and the family’s three pets didn’t make it.
“I couldn’t get to my baby. Even the firefighters couldn’t get to him,” Jasmine said, describing the night. “I just see flames and smoke. It all happened so fast.”…
