PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Winterhawks held their annual Hawks Fight Cancer Night on Friday ahead of their matchup with Spokane and successfully reached the $5,000 donation goal.

The money will go to support Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. In order to celebrate reaching the milestone, Winterhawks forward Nathan Brown agreed to get a pea-hawk haircut.
The Winterhawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first, but Spokane answered with three goals of their own in a 50-second span to tie the game 3-3. The Chiefs added another one in the second bringing it to 4-3 heading into the final period.
The Hawks tried to rally, but didn’t have enough and fell to Spokane 5-4 at home.
The Winterhawks will hit the road next weekend to battle the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:05 p.m…
