SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was sentenced to six and a half years in prison on Feb. 18, for one count of Vehicular Homicide (Reckless Manner) after pleading guilty in January.
According to court documents, Daniel Jones, 34, was sleeping in his car with his girlfriend in a turnout area on Downriver Drive in 2022. Jones then pulled the car onto the road and stopped perpendicular to an oncoming truck, which caused the truck to slam on its brakes.
Documents show Jones continued to sit perpendicular in the road, so the truck drove around him and continued down the road. Jones then stepped on the gas to get right behind the truck. Documents show the road they were on was narrow and had no shoulder and no passing area…
