Spokane City Council bans sale of kratom, ‘Gas station heroin’

A drug previously available for purchase at any age in Spokane gas stations has now been banned by the Spokane City Council.

Kratom, often referred to as “gas station heroin,” was previously available for purchase with no age restrictions. After debate, including consideration of raising the purchase age to 21, the city council voted to enact a complete ban on the substance at its Monday meeting.
