Misspelling on Spokane Valley man’s death certificate prompts months of stress for family handling estate

SPOKANE, Wash. — Therese Odell is used to people misspelling her name. It’s never led to any extreme stress. That changed when her father passed away and the common spelling mistake ended up on his death certificate. The error has prompted months of delays when it comes to handling his estate.

“My dad is from Puerto Rico,” she said. “He was in the US Air Force.”
