SPOKANE, Wash. – A new facility for Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) is under construction in Spokane Valley, expected to be completed in early 2027.
SREC and the City of Spokane underwent a dispute in late 2025 when SREC announced it would stop its services to the city at the beginning of 2026. The Spokane City Council responded by moving forward with an ordinance to construct its own 911 dispatch hub. Ultimately, a temporary agreement was reached between the city and SREC to continue services for a 2-year transition period, expiring in 2028.
