South Barker Road in Spokane Valley to close for major reconstruction project

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A major roadway reconstruction project will close South Barker Road between East Sprague Avenue and East Appleway Avenue for three months.

Construction on the South Barker Road Corridor Project will begin March 23 and continue through June 2026, the city said in a release.

The project will reconstruct Barker Road from Appleway Avenue to Sprague Avenue. Work includes widening the roadway to three lanes, five lanes approaching the intersection at Appleway Avenue, bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides and stormwater improvements…
