We’re feeling incredibly grateful (and maybe just a little proud).
In this year’s Inlander “Best Of” community poll, all three top library spots were awarded to Spokane Public Library locations:
- 1st Place: Central Library
- 2nd Place: Shadle Park Library
- 3rd Place: South Hill Library
Each of these libraries has its own personality, energy, and ways of serving the community. Here are just a few things that make them special:
Central Library (1st Place)
Central Library is our most visited location and welcomed 450,000 visitors in 2025! It is more than a downtown destination—it’s a hub of creativity, learning, and connection.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Three media studios (recording, video, and podcast) open to the public
- Inland Northwest Special Collections, preserving and sharing our region’s history
- River Rumpus, our largest children’s playspace
- A Business Lab supporting entrepreneurs and small business growth
- New Leaf Cafe, operated by the nonprofit Transitions
- The largest Friends of the Library Book Store collection
- Study rooms, a maker studio, conference rooms, and event spaces
- A large stage that regularly hosts concerts and performances
In 2025, the Central Library hosted 367 events, bringing people together for everything from workshops to live events.
Shadle Park Library (2nd Place)
Shadle is our second most visited library location and is our most active programming branch! We hosted 501 events at this location in 2025.
- Moose’s Market, a beloved children’s playspace
- A horticulture hub with regular gardening programs
- The Discovery Garden, an outdoor classroom for growing, cooking, and learning
- A puzzle exchange, plus yarn and fabric swaps
- Rotating monthly art exhibits that showcase local talent
South Hill Library (3rd Place)
