Brewster sleep clinic doctor sentenced over toxic CPAP equipment

SPOKANE — A Brewster physician must spend a year in federal prison and pay more than $400,000 for providing patients with recalled and potentially unsafe medical devices.

Dr. Eric Edward Haeger, 57, pleaded guilty in December to providing CPAP and BiPAP machines to Medicaid patients, even after they were recalled because of toxic foam components that posed a risk to users’ health.

In U.S. District Court in Spokane on Wednesday, Judge Rebecca Pennell sentenced Haeger to a year plus one day in prison, and ordered him to pay a $60,000 fine and nearly $350,000 in restitution…
