Unique K9 joins Post Falls police as electronic detection dog

POST FALLS, Idaho – The Post Falls Police Department has welcomed its newest four-legged officer, a 4-year-old yellow lab named Uno who is making waves as one of few electronic detection K9 in the Inland Northwest.

Uno started his job just a few months ago and represents a significant advancement in the department’s investigative capabilities. The specially trained dog can detect concealed electronic storage devices such as memory cards, hard drives, USB drives and other small electronics that may be used to store illegal digital content.

“He definitely expedites our search process and lets us find things that normally we wouldn’t find,” said Detective Jason Cope, Uno’s handler and the department’s computer forensics investigator. “He can even smell into walls, under water and things like that.”…
