Multiple construction projects to impact traffic starting May 4 in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – City officials notified the community on Friday about upcoming construction work that will impact traffic on 3rd Avenue, Washington Street, Market Street and Nevada Street starting on Monday, May 4.

3rd Avenue, between Howard Street and Bernard Street, will see lane reductions and eastbound congestion starting Monday morning as crews work to resurface the roadway and replace curb ramps where needed. Access to businesses will be maintained. Work on this project is expected to be completed by early July.

Washington Street, between 8th Avenue and 2nd Avenue, will experience lane reductions and southbound congestion as crews work on a project aiming to resurface the roadway, replace an aging water main pipe, improve stormwater management and replace curb ramps where needed. This work is scheduled to begin on Monday morning, and city officials noted that access to businesses in the area will be maintained. Work on this project is estimated to last for a few months.

Market Street at Columbia Avenue, near Hillyard Aquatic Center, as well as Nevada Street at Cozza Drive will see lane reductions and slowdowns in all directions as crews begin work on a $1.5 million Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon project. City officials said the project aims to enhance pedestrian safety by installing beacon signals on busy arterials. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, and local access for residents and businesses will be maintained. The project is expected to be completed by mid-July.
