Mother Matteel Weathersby Brown was born in Baltzer, MS. on July 18, 1930, the second child Emment and Mary Weathersby.
The family moved to Shelby, MS. in 1949 and she started school in Mound Bayou, MS.
Matteel was united in holy matrimony in 1956 to Willie “Son” Brown. They moved to Chicago for a few years, then she moved back to Shelby where she joined the Macedonia M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. W.L. Lewis, and Rev. E.L. Young, and now Pastor Charles Hall…
