A man at the center of a search after a deadly shooting is now in custody, and Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators are trying to determine whether he is a suspect or a witness.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that deputies responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 11100 block of Grant Road and that the possible suspect fled.
ABC13 was there as the young man was taken into custody on Summer Mill Drive in northwest Harris County. He was bitten by an HCSO K9 and was transported to a hospital. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office also played a role in the search.
At the original scene, Sgt. Sidney Miller provided new details.
“We suspect he may have been a witness. However, we are not confirming. That hasn’t been confirmed. It’s still under investigation,” he said. “We’re going to talk to him to see what his involvement was.”
Deputies responded to the scene in the courtyard of an apartment complex around 4:45 p.m. and reported discovering that a man in his early 20s had been shot and killed.
