The City of Houston and the Black Heritage Society Inc. have released details for the 46th Annual ‘Original’ MLK Parade. The parade, previously postponed due to winter weather, is now scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Downtown Houston. It will begin at the corner of Smith and McKinney, outside Houston’s City Hall.

The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Brotherly Love is the Strongest Advocacy for Peace, Freedom, and Justice for All.’ The event is part of the Black History Month celebrations and aims to recognize the contributions and achievements of African Americans and others.

The Black Heritage Society Inc. plans to honor leaders who have continued the work of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights advocate. Attorney Benjamin Crump, ESQ, a civil rights lawyer, will lead the 46th ‘Original’ MLK Jr. Parade as the Grand Marshal.

Commissioner Adrián Garcia and Pastor Walter August Jr. will also serve as co-Grand Marshals for the parade. They have been chosen for their commitment to civil rights leadership.
