Man allegedly drunkenly confessed to new girlfriend that he is wanted for murder

POMEROY, Iowa (TCN) — A man who has been wanted out of Houston for two years was arrested last week after he reportedly confessed to the woman he was dating that he killed his brother.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 20 at 7:14 a.m., deputies received a call from a resident who said he kicked a man out who had recently been staying with him because he “admitted to being on the run for killing his own brother.”

Deputies reportedly located the man walking on a highway in the direction of Fort Dodge and detained him at 7:33 a.m. The man reportedly initially provided law enforcement with a fake name, but less than an hour after he was taken into custody, he admitted his name was Kyle Andrew Coolack.

The sheriff’s office said Coolack had a murder warrant out for his arrest from over two years ago.

Houston Police said in a statement that on March 11, 2022, officers were called to an apartment on West Greens Road and found Brad Coolack deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Police identified Kyle Coolack as a suspect in his brother’s killing, and he was charged with murder in July 2022.
