HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — The Houston Police Department ( HPD ) is investigating the possible kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl last night.
The incident occurred in the Sunnyside area near MLK and Bellfort. HPD responded to a welfare check reported around 10 p.m. at a gas station.
Officers spotted a car that matched the description of the reported vehicle and attempted to approach the occupants, but they fled the scene.
Officers pursued the vehicle for five minutes with the suspects leading police through a neighborhood at 288 and W Orem.
The suspects pulled into the garage of a home in the 11900 block of Longwood Garden . HPD officers surrounded the home as the suspects ran inside.

Officers were able to apprehend and detain a group of people, including the alleged kidnapping victim. The investigation is ongoing as officers determine what charges will be filed.
