The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 14-1 with a 27-19 victory over the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
The win moves the Chiefs closer to clinching the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and now maybe attention can be turned to keeping certain players fresh for what will hopefully be a long playoff run.
One player who stood out in the win for the Chiefs was rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, who totaled seven receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown to lead the offense in all categories.
For head coach Andy Reid, Worthy’s progression this season has been a slow burn, but the franchise feels good about where he’s headed.
“It’s just been gradual,” Reid said . “It’s been a few games now where he can do all those things and we feel good about that.”
Worthy’s last six weeks have seen him become a key cog in Reid’s offense, and what’s more, Patrick Mahomes now trusts the rookie to come up big. … oh, and speaking of Mahomes: How do you like Worthy’s noteworthy show of support for his QB as he wore a Texas Tech “MAHOMES” jersey backwards in his postgame media session?
