Report: Sprouts Farmers Market to add three more locations in Houston area

In 2023, Sprouts Farmers Market shuttered three locations in the Greater Houston area. Now, the organic grocer chain is looking to make a comeback. According to the Houston Business Journal, Sprouts is eyeing expansions in three Houston suburbs: Richmond, Kingwood, and The Woodlands.

The first new Sprouts is expected to open in Richmond come August. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the store broke ground last June at 19160 W. Belfort St. in between Waterview Estates and Waterside Village.

In The Woodlands, the new Sprouts will take over a former Randalls store in the Panther Creek Village Center at 4775 W. Panther Creek Dr. Sprouts representatives told the Journal the new store is expected to open in 2026. According to TDLR, the space is currently being renovated with project costs around $3.4 million.

The Kingwood Sprouts store will inhabit the former H-E-B at Kings Crossing Center at 4100 Kingwood Dr. The San Antonio-based grocer closed the location in 2016 and opened a much larger one along Lake Houston Parkway. Like The Woodlands, the Kingwood Sprouts is expected to open next year.

The first Sprouts Farmers Market opened in Chandler, Ariz. in 2011. The supermarket chain has since grown to over 400 locations across the country, including the six already operating in the Houston area. The stores have grown in popularity due to its extensive selection of natural and organic food products.
