HOUSTON, Texas — Firefighters responded to a significant blaze at Conley Elementary School early this morning, according to the Northwest Volunteer Fire Department. The fire, which broke out around 2:48 a.m., resulted in heavy smoke and flames visible from the building.
Upon arrival, crews found the fire had breached the roof, prompting a defensive firefighting strategy due to structural instability. The older courtyard-style structure allowed firefighters to contain the blaze to one wing of the school.
