Two brothers charged in fatal Houston stabbing

HOUSTON, Texas — Charges have been filed against two brothers in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man found on the 6000 Gulf Freeway service road on March 14. Crisanto Caal Ba, 27, and Daniel Salvador Caal Ba, 26, are charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.

The victim, identified as 23-year-old Otto Pop Coc, was discovered by Houston Police Department (HPD) officers after a witness saw him with blood on his shirt and called 9-1-1. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Pop Coc deceased at the scene, according to HPD Homicide Division investigators E. Torres, A. Graf, and A. Ledford.

Initially, there was no known motive or suspect description. However, further investigation led to the identification of the Caal Ba brothers as suspects. Daniel Salvador Caal Ba was already in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge and was subsequently charged in this incident after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
