Just one week ago, a heartbreaking case of animal neglect and cruelty went viral on social media as ThisIsHouston animal rescue organization posted several photos of an eight-pound puppy picked up by local animal control.
It had been Montgomery County Animal Shelter who reached out for help; ThisIsHouston immediately stepped up. One-and-a-half year old(her age estimate has since been revised) Violet suffered from both very contagious sarcoptic and demodex mange. When found, the puppy had been covered in a purple substance, likely a livestock spray that had been applied to her tiny body to relieve the terrible itching she had been painfully enduring; small movements had been causing her extreme pain.
She was immediately taken to Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital where her treatments began with medicated baths and pain medications to make her more comfortable. Once discharged, Violet was on her way to a foster home.
And when pictures tell the best story:
That life is so far behind her already though. She’s now a loved girl who wears pajamas that match her foster momma and she enjoys cuddles in bed. She’s still getting baths to help her skin heal and she’s almost purple-free!…
