Conroe man wanted for murder may be in Mexico, possibly disguising himself as woman

CONROE, Tex. (KGNS) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to find a man wanted for murder who has been on the run since 2008.

Glen Holmes Jr., now 41 years old, is wanted for not showing up to court for his capital murder trial. Deputies say Holmes took off his ankle monitor and ran. He has not been seen since.

Holmes is accused of killing Barry Thomas in Conroe on May 1, 2006. The shooting happened at a Taco Cabana drive-thru on South Loop 336. Police say Holmes then stole Thomas’ car and led officers on a chase through Montgomery, Harris, and Walker counties. He was caught in Houston on May 18, 2006, with help from local police, Texas Rangers, and U.S. Marshals.

Holmes was released on bond twice in 2006. In 2008, he cut off his monitor and never returned to court. Deputies believe he may have gone to Mexico. He could be in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Saltillo, Nuevo Leon, Monterrey, or other towns near the border…
