The Humble ISD board is investigating newly appointed Superintendent Roger Brown for allegedly saying he wanted to “lynch the mayor” after being without power during Hurricane Beryl.
Henry Phipps, Humble ISD’s chief education support services officer, said during Tuesday’s board meeting that he was offended by the superintendent’s use of a racially charged word at the late-March leadership meeting of over 100 employees.
“A cabinet-level administrator used a microphone to inform those in attendance that they were so upset after their house lost power during a hurricane that they wanted to ‘lynch the mayor.’ They then echoed lynching the mayor by stating, ‘I wanted to take him out back and hang him from a tree,’” Phipps said…
