As if motorists in Houston don’t already have enough problems, now officials are warning of a fake parking ticket with a QR code used to allegedly steal drivers’ money.
The Houston’s Parking Patrol, ParkHouston, is warning the public to be on the lookout for fake tickets that direct motorists to a bogus website. Park Houston Deputy Director Maria Irshad said the fake tickets can be identified by their QR codes.
“Our parking citations will never have a QR code for payment,” she said. “We will have instructions on how you could pay the citation. We will have instructions on how you could contest the citation and locations where you could go for all these various steps. But we will not have a QR code asking you to pay that citation.”…
