Tragic Murder-Suicide in Magnolia as Elderly Man Killed, Stepson Dies in Crash After Alleged Homicide

A tragic sequence of events unfolded on Magnolia road as deputies were called to investigate an alleged murder-suicide involving family members, resulting in a heavy police presence throughout the day. CW39 reported that Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed the death of a 77-year-old man, Jeffry Love, who was found in his home with multiple head injuries, after they conducted a welfare check at around 9 a.m.

Almost concurrently, a car crash occurred, and the investigation linked the two incidents when the deceased driver of the Toyota SUV, identified as 35-year-old Nicholas Petropolis, Love’s adult stepson, was discovered to be responsible for the earlier homicide. Deputies surmised that a grieving wife found her husband dead around 8:52 a.m., and she alerted the authorities after stumbling upon the violent scene at their residence on the 37400 block of FM 149.

According to Click2Houston, witnesses observed the Toyota SUV driven by Petropolis accelerate abruptly and veer into oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with a dump truck, mere moments and approximately 100 yards from where Love was discovered.
