Montgomery County man arrested in insurance fraud case

MONTGOMERY, Texas — A Magnolia man was arrested for insurance fraud after allegedly reporting his 2020 Honda Talon RTV stolen and later attempting to sell it online. The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force began investigating the case in May 2025.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, Mark Mangrum, reported the RTV stolen to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office in November 2024 and subsequently received an insurance payout of $29,951.00. A few months later, the RTV was listed for sale on social media and various ATV platforms. Task Force members, along with a Department of Public Safety agent, located the RTV at Mangrum’s residence in Magnolia, where he consented to a search.
