Texas Organized Retail Theft Case: Five Arrested in The Woodlands This Week

The Woodlands, TX – A suspected large-scale organized retail theft ring was disrupted this week after Montgomery County deputies arrested an adult and four juveniles at an Academy store in The Woodlands.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Thursday to a theft-in-progress call at the Academy Sports + Outdoors located at 1360 Lake Woodlands Drive. Law enforcement officials allege they detained five suspects at the scene: Talanda Champagne, 26, of Humble, Texas, along with four juveniles from both Houston and Humble. During a search of the suspects’ vehicle, authorities reportedly discovered a significant amount of stolen merchandise believed to have been taken from various area retailers.

Investigators say the recovered items were valued at nearly $7,000 and traced to multiple stores across The Woodlands area. All suspects were transported and have been charged with Felony Theft, according to the sheriff’s office…
