During the lunch hour, storms are moving southeast into the Houston metro area, bringing heavy rain and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning. Expect flight delays, street flooding, and gusty winds. In other regions of Texas, we will see an increase in isolated to scattered storms this afternoon and evening. These storms may produce locally heavy rain and lightning, and pockets of flash flooding are possible. However, it should be a much calmer day across the Panhandle and West Texas, where an early fall preview will bring more pleasant weather and cooler temperatures.
