Texas man arrested, accused of dragging deputy during warrant service execution

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a deputy during a criminal investigation in The Woodlands, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office. The incident occurred on September 5, 2025, when deputies attempted to execute a search warrant.

During the operation, a deputy tried to make contact with a suspect in his vehicle on the 29100 block of Interstate 45. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Matthew Irwin of The Woodlands, Texas, refused to exit his vehicle despite multiple requests. When the deputy attempted to physically remove Irwin, he reportedly became combative, put his truck in drive, and sped away, briefly dragging the deputy. The deputy sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands.

A collaborative search effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Oakridge North Police Department, Shenandoah Police Department, Conroe Police Department, Houston Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, led to the suspect’s apprehension at 2301 S.
